Regaining health and work abilities on your own in this situation can be challenging.

What is the effect of physiotherapeutic manipulation? Physiotherapy

For the treatment to be effective, doctors specialising in different fields are working as a team together with physicians, to help the patient to regain health in the quickest and most effective method or complex of methods. Physiotherapy techniques and the possibilities vary. In which cases can a physical therapist help?

Usually physiotherapist can help in cases such as bone, joint and muscle illnesses and injuries, as well as nervous system disorders, including prevention of brain and spinal cord injury consequences. In the cases of cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses, post-natal and post-surgery period, a physical therapist can help regain full health and previous quality of life. Physiotherapist works with patients in any age and different health conditions, including pregnant women, new mothers, infants, the elderly, as well as teenagers and young adults, who are in need of posture correction. For example, posture correction performed on school-age children will help avoiding serious problems in the future.

Physiotherapists also focus on people who want to strengthen their physical well-being, who attend gymnastic classes for general fitness or to improve their working abilities.

In the process of physiotherapy both active and passive methods are used. Often they are based on therapeutic exercises and an important part of successful therapy is active involvement of the patient in the treatment process. The treatments recommended by the physiotherapist cannot be bought in a pharmacy – for the treatment to be effective, a set of exercises, that are chosen by the physiotherapist, must be done at home regularly.

Patients are advised and the physiotherapy procedures are performed by experienced and knowledgeable specialists.

Physical Therapy procedure (TENS, US, EMS)

During TENS (transcutaneous electrostimulation) and EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) procedures electrodes are placed on the skin and by applying these electrodes, the nerve receptors are being stimulated.

EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) maintains muscle nutrition and life processes, prevents muscle atrophy. Used in the cases of paresis or paralysis in order to normalise fat cell metabolism, to improve blood circulation, to strengthen the diaphragm and abdominal muscle wall. Duration of the procedure: 15-30 minutes.

TENS (transcutaneous electrostimulation) is a type of electric anesthesia and, nerve and muscle stimulation. This procedure reduces acute and chronic bone and muscle pain. Duration of the procedure: 15-30 minutes.

Ultrasound (US) therapy

Ultrasound (US) therapy is a physical therapy method that converts ultrasonic wave energy into heat energy. Thus, the warming of tissue triggers the body’s biochemical and physiological processes, helps reducing inflammation, improves tissue regeneration and absorption process, reduces pain. Duration of the procedure: 5-10 minutes.

Phonophoresis is an ultrasound physical therapy method, which is a combination of ultrasound and medicine therapy. Duration of the procedure: 5-10 minutes.

This method contributes to proper function of muscles and joints, reduces swelling and pain, and risk of injury. The material is air and water permeable, it can stay on the skin for days and even weeks.
